Beautiful Monsters lll Broken

CALIFICACIÓN: 8/10

La tercera entrega de "Beautiful Monsters" me provocó sentimientos encontrados. El exceso de violencia en la primera parte me impide darle mayor calificación, pero fuera de ello, el libro me encantó.

Sinopsis:

Vampire. Incubus. Demigod. Weapon.

Matthew has many names, but none as distressing as a pet. A slave to incubus High King Malarath, Matthew is tired. Tired of fighting. Tired of losing those he loves. Tired of the torture. And, in his despair, his body begins to decay around him.

The High King, angered that his pet is dying, brings in the one person who might be able to fix Matthew: High Lord General Tarrick.

While all trust Matthew had in the general is gone, maybe there is hope in the situation. All Matthew needs to do is start acting like an incubus and put on a show.

Mateo tiene muchos nombres, pero ninguno tan angustioso como "mascota". Un esclavo del íncubo High King Malarath. Matthew está cansado. Cansado de luchar. Cansado de perder a los que ama. Cansado de la tortura. Y, en su desesperación, su cuerpo comienza a deteriorarse.

El Gran Rey, enfadado porque su mascota se está muriendo, trae a la única persona que podría arreglar a Matthew: el Gran Lord General Tarrick.

Si bien toda la confianza que Matthew tenía en el general se ha ido, tal vez haya esperanza en la situación. Todo lo que Matthew necesita hacer es comenzar a actuar como un íncubo y montar un espectáculo.

El inicio de este libro fue difícil para mí. Durante más del primer tercio abundan la violencia gráfica, torturas, humillaciones y demás. Y cuando crees que ya quedó atrás el desfile de horrores, llegan más. Fue muy triste leer paginas y páginas únicamente deseando acabar pronto. Consideré brincarme páginas, pero no lo hice por miedo a perderme algo importante. Tenía ganas de golpear a la escritora jaja. Por lo mismo, me tomó algunos días en leer esa parte. 

Peeeero, si sobrevives a todo eso, las cosas mejoran, y mucho. El desarrollo de los personajes y los conflictos siguen siendo de primer nivel, así como las batallas. 

Además, a diferencia de las entregas anteriores, en "Broken" aparecen algunos personajes absolutamente detestables. Preparen su té de boldo para el hígado 😂.

Lo que más me gustó de "Broken" es, como siempre, la dinámica entre Tarrick y Matthew, ya que aquí conocemos más a fondo al General, su lado vulnerable y su personalidad. Asimismo, por fin entendemos más sus sentimientos y sus motivaciones.

Cabe aclarar que la saga no termina aquí. Habrá al menos tres libros más, según ha dicho la autora, Jex Lane.

“Fingers wandered across Matthew’s ears, caressing them before moving across his jaw and finally tracing his lips. The surprisingly tender touch was made sweeter when the general said, “I’m sorry, Matthew.”
